Penn State Football Players will be joining us on June 14th
to help raise awareness for this worthy cause.
AmeriChoice will hold their 6th Annual Charity Golf Classic on Monday, June 14,
2010 at the Carlisle Country Club. We invite you to tee off with us as we raise
money for Uplifting Athletes.
Uplifting Athletes is a national nonprofit headquartered in Camp Hill, PA, that
works with college football teams to benefit the rare disease community through
outreach, research, education and advocacy. Chapters of Uplifting Athletes are run
by current college football players at Penn State, Ohio State, Maryland, Boston
College and Colgate University to raise awareness and fund research for a rare disease
adopted by their team.
Share Your Rare Disease Story
Have you or a loved one been affected by a rare disease? AmeriChoice in partnership
with Uplifting Athletes invites you to share your rare disease story. According
to the National Institute of Health (NIH), a disease is classified as rare if it
affects fewer than 200,000 Americans. With nearly 7,000 different rare diseases
affecting over 30 million total Americans, there are some you may have heard of
(such as MS, ALS, Cystic Fibrosis, Pancreatic Cancer, Kidney Cancer, Leukemia, etc.)
and many others that you may not. On June 14th, golfers will play in honor and memory
of the special AmeriChoice members and loved ones whose lives have been changed
due to a rare disease. Please share your story and nominate a loved one today!
