President’s Message

As we begin to round out 2020, we reflect on the challenges that have affected us globally and look towards emerging from the COVID-19 pandemic in the most positive way possible. As a credit union, the AmeriChoice team has worked hard to safely serve our members and provide relief on a variety of levels. We have extended our Supplemental Income Loan through the end of the year, to help members who may have experienced COVID related job or income loss. Our team continues to work with members on a one on one basis to assist members who may have difficulty paying loans, and we are committed to finding solutions to help our members weather this crisis.

We understand that our members have a need now more than ever to purchase homes, vehicles, and other essential items to thrive in “the new normal”, and have come up with ways to help over the rest of the year. In October and November, we will be offering new auto loan rates as low as 1.99% APR*, as well as no payments until 2021. Eligible members also have the opportunity to skip a loan payment for a small fee, which can be done in online banking for the quickest service.

A new addition to our Benefits Plus program will also help members save this holiday season. Savings Xpress, powered by Entertainment Book, provides money saving offers for local and national businesses for members. Savings are available both in the app and online. Check out our article in this newsletter for more information.

On an exciting note, I am thrilled to share that AmeriChoice has been recognized as Harrisburg Magazine Simply the Best Readers Choice Credit Union, and also has been awarded as a Central Penn Business Journal Game Changer Business of the Year! We truly appreciate everyone who took the time to vote for AmeriChoice and are grateful for the opportunity to serve each and every one of our members.

As a member-owed financial cooperative, decisions are in the hands of our members, who have a say in how the credit union is managed through their votes for our Board of Directors. We are currently accepting nominations for our Board until November 13, 2020. Read more about the requirements here.

Finally, as announced this summer, I will be retiring from my role as President/CEO of AmeriChoice at the end of 2020. Little did I know that when I was hired by the Credit Union in July 1985, it would be a lifelong career.  The members and the Credit Union philosophy of “People Helping People” really created a sense of belonging and where I wanted to be.  In my 35 years at the credit union, I have met so many people who have become like family. While difficult to say goodbye, I welcome the excitement of retirement and know that the credit union is in great hands with our experienced and dedicated management team. I have thoroughly enjoyed the journey and consider it an honor and privilege to have served the members of this Credit Union.  To all of you, whom I have had the privilege of serving over the last three decades, thank you for your trust in me and in AmeriChoice as your dedicated financial partner.
